Dan Grades

25/06/2026

Congratulations to our three new Dan Grades at Red Sun Shotokan Karate!

A massive congratulations to Lilly Hodgkinson, Kai Marlow and Cameron Littler on successfully passing their Dan Grade after battling through a very tough grading in 32-degree heat.
Dan Grading is never easy, and the conditions made this one even more demanding, but all three showed tremendous determination, resilience and spirit throughout. Their hard work, commitment and perseverance in training have been rewarded with a fantastic achievement that they should all be incredibly proud of.

Everyone at Red Sun Shotokan Karate is delighted to see you reach this important milestone in your karate journey. Earning a Dan Grade is a special moment and a reflection of the time, effort and dedication you have each put into your training over many years.

Congratulations once again to Lilly, Kai and Cameron — a brilliant achievement and one that is fully deserved.

Ian Swain Visit

29/01/2026

A massive well done to everyone who trained this evening. Was nice to see a few of the higher grades coming to the lower grade session and even better to see a few of our lower grades stopping to train with the higher grades.

A big thank you to our association Chief Instructor Sensei Ian Swain for coming down to teach the session.

For those of you who have never met Sensei Ian before, he is a former England International who runs the club we have in Sale, Manchester. We were also very lucky that he brought George Malone who is one of his students and a current England International.

A very enjoyable session for everyone who attended
